Zumba – The New Latin-based Super Workout
Zumba is a great aerobic dance workout, suitable for people of all ages. Many people hear about Zumba from their friends, or read about it online. They start wondering what it actually is, and if a person should have any existing dance skills when they go to the training studio to book their place in a class.
The good news is that Zumba is suitable for everyone, and no prior dance training is required. The bad news... well, there is no bad news when it comes to Zumba! It is one of the most efficient dance workouts ever created.
The workouts are performed to the sound and rhythm of energizing Latin, international and contemporary music that really makes you want to move your feet. You will have a great time if you join a Zumba class, and you will feel happy, refreshed and in a positive mood after the training session is finished.
But if it is so much fun, why is Zumba called a workout instead of a dance? Because, even though the music makes your feet move, and you enjoy yourself and feel really happy, the way the rhythm changes from fast to slow is actually very effective, and a great fat burning workout. It uses high intensity interval training to boost your metabolism and to increase your fat burning rate.
The best thing about Zumba is that the effect from the training continues during the next several hours and up to a day after. You have fun, dance to the rhythm of good music, tone your body at your class and then burn fat for almost a day after your training! It cannot get any better than this!
If you have made the decision to start actively training with Zumba, the only “tools” you will need are your own body, good trainer, and a time to find a class. As it is great training for everyone, you will not need to search for beginner classes or classes for people of a certain age. You can join any class and have fun.
Most Zumba classes use the above mentioned interval training method; some add an additional challenges for your body in the form of toning sticks – these add a resistance element to the training and make your body start to reshape and tone even faster.
This aerobic dance targets all problematic areas – arms, legs, butt, core and every other muscle group you can think of. You can move at your own pace and enjoy the training; your body will become slimmer and more toned as you burn calories.
There is no special clothing required to dance Zumba, but you will need to have comfortable clothes that allow your body to move and stretch freely. Everything else that you may need will be provided by your trainer at the dance school.
All in all, Zumba is THE workout for people who like to dance, listen to music, and have a slimmer, toned, well-shaped body. This workout will give you all these – all you have to do is choose a Zumba class.
